Subject: Re: Problem with MakeTeXPK and 300dpi fonts
annoying that I have to run dvips to make the fonts for xdvi to use.
Define MAKETEXPK at compile-time, set the xdvi.maketexpk X resource to
true, or use +maketexpk on the command line.
script doesn't seem to override the MF mode.
It shouldn't. The script is *passed* the Metafont mode.
See xdvik/INSTALL and xdvik/xdvi.1 for how the mode is determined.
(Again, there's compile-time, environment variable, resource specs, and
command line methods.)
Can some kind soul explain to me the reason for the different modes and
The mode is 600dpi in dvips's config.ps because our printer at home
these days is a LaserJet 4M :-)
There are various other dvipsk/config.* files, maybe one of them is
closer to your LaserWriters (although making a config.lw or whatever is
not a big deal).
printer is an HP Laserjet 4si which can print 600 or 300 dpi output.
dvipsk/config.ps ought to be fine.
printer is an HP Laserjet 4si which can print 600 or 300 dpi output.
In the faculty office areas we use old Apple LaserWriters which are 300dpi.
Yeah. We have the same setup at UMB. The way it's intended to work is to
have subdirectories pk/ljfour and pk/canoncx. Then define the paths
(with the `P' command) differently in the two config files for dvips.
Actually, the way it's *really* supposed to work is make the default PK
path ``/usr/local/lib/texmf/fonts//pk/$MAKETEX_MODE''. (Yes, with the $
as part of the value.) (And then you don't need different lines in the
config files.) I haven't yet tried this in practice.
I'm just looking for reassurance that I can blow away my old version
I would never give anyone such reassurance :-)
Hope this helps.
